I was surprised to see mormons listed in a Christian community, aren't they some kind of cult?

Pretty much. They are polygamous, and have modified scriptures to suit their needs.

Polygamy is not practiced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

There is a break away group who was led by Warren Jeffs that practice polygamy, and although they refer to themselves as "Mormons", they are not part of the above named Church.

Well John is just asking a question. I believe in Christ, through his atonement I can be saved, I would say that makes me Christian.

As far as cult, there are so many definitions for this. If one were to look up the meaning in a dictionary you would summarize that every religion is a cult, so again, what is a cult for you?

Mormons are Christians, I dont know why people have such a hard time to understand this.  The Mormon Church believes in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior of Mankind.

To answer your question , Yes Mormons are Christians.  We believe in God the Father and his son Jesus Christ, He is the savior of all mankind.  He will be resurrected and will come again.  We believe in the plan of salvation and returning home to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ when our work on earth is done.

Mormonism is not a cult , it is a world known and recognized religion, we are 13 million strong .

Being polygamous doesn't seem to be frowned upon in the Bible.  Similar charges of modifying Scripture can be brought against writers of the Bible.  "You have heard it said...
